It must be used with the camera at full wide (otherwise why would you use it?). There is major obstruction when using the viewfinder and shadowing when using the internal flash. On the C-2500L, D-620L and D-600L this produces a 29mm equivalent lens, while it is equivalent to a 40mm lens on the D-500L.
